This edition of Random Monkey Rambling is brought to you by the letter V.

1. BC Provincial By-Election
So the provincial by-election was tonight. Since I live in one of the two ridings I was lucky enough to vote. When I arrived at the polling station around 6:30 PM I was surprised how few people were there. I was basically in and out of the station in about 1 minute. By all indications it looks like the voter turn out was pretty horrible. Seriously, what's wrong with ppl?

According to Vancouver Sun, NDP is poised to win in both ridings. I don't understand how ppl can vote for the liberals for the federal election in both of these ridings then turn around and vote for the NDP for the provincial election. Sure Gordie hasn't been the best premier and has had his problems (like getting caught drunk driving in Hawaii) but he did at least guide the province toward good direction. Picking between Gordon Campbell and Carole James basically means picking the less of the two evils. But can actually anyone stand listening to Carole James? I sure can't! The actual provincial election next spring is going to be extremely interesting.

2. My fucked up ankle
I already blogged about it here (wow surprise, another random rambling post). Anyway, the ankle was really bothering me today. I can walk fine, just in a lot of discomfort. A sudden change of direction (i.e. pivoting) using my right foot will cause a lot of pain at this point. I tried icing it for about 1.5 hours tonight and it's feeling a bit better. Seeing how I'm not going away anywhere this weekend maybe I should go to a walk-in clinic and get it checked out... or at least get a referral to the physio or something.

3. Photos
Tink mentioned that she took on average 3 pics a day on her blog last week. Since purchasing my DSLR, Canon XSi, back in April I've taken A LOT of pics. Seeing her blog post kinda made me wonder what my average is like.

Lucky for me, few days ago I came across a utility that checks the Canon DSLR shutter actuation counts.

Holy crap! And I thought my friend Peter was trigger happy with his camera!

4. Vancouver Canucks games
Although the Vancouver Canucks have played a total of 9 games so far this season, I think I've only managed to watch 2 games on TV. For some reason most of the weeknight games so far are either on TSN or Pay Per View. When it's on CBC during Hockey Night in Canada (i.e. Sat for you Americans) I'm usually away on outdoor trips. Since I only have Sportsnet at home, that leaves me with very little choice. It's pretty annoying coming back home, knowing there's a game, turning on the TV, and finding out that the game is not on because you're a cheapass bastard who's paying $10/month for basic cable. I'm not a corporate bitch so forking out more money for cable is out of the question. Not able to watch game is seriously lame. I guess I could always go to a bar to watch it or something but sometimes you just want to be lazy and sit on the couch, staring at the tiny 20" TV in front of you.

5. Halloween costume
So Halloween is in 2 days. I'm going to my ex-wife Stacy's Halloween party. Right now I'm lacking in a costume though. Maybe I'll just show up as a monkey...that should require very little dress up. Or does anyone have any suggestion?

6. Yogurt
I bought a jar of Island Farm vanilla yogurt with mango flavour. Holy crap this stuff is sooo good! It was quite difficult not to finish the whole jar in one sitting!
